MY UCSD

UCSD wasn't always my first choice for college. I originally had my heart set on attending UC Davis this coming Fall, but for whatever reason (I like to call it fate... it makes me feel better...) I was denied admission. This is probably for the best considering that I'm majoring in biology. UCSD is much better known for their biology and marine science courses than UCD. UCD is where a lot of my family attended college so that might be part of the reason why I wanted to go there so badly.

Long story short, I'm very happy that I decided to accept UCSD's offer of admission into Revelle College. (See the "About UCSD" post) As a student at Revelle I am required to take 3 courses of Calculus, 5 courses of Humanities, 5 courses of Natural Science, 1 course of American Cultures, 2 courses of Social Science, 1 course of Fine Arts, 3 courses in an area of focus thst is seperate from my major, and I must demonstrate proficiency in any modern foreign language.

At UCSD I hope to be part of the Pep Band and part of the Quidditch team. I hope to eventually be more involved, but for an incoming freshmen I think that this is a good start.

  1. Hello,
i got admitted in UCSD for the fall of 2013 in Eleanor Roosevelt College for Electrical engineering. ERC was my 4th choice and i dont know a lot about it since UCSD guide is not much helpful. I would have liked to get admitted in warren or muir(which were my 1st and 2nd choices).
So can you please also tell me how ERC is in comaprision to warren and muir. Also is there any way to switch to warren or muir?
    thanks for your help

    1. Well, you were certainly smart about having Warren as you first choice college. (Warren is generally known by the students here at UCSD as the 'Engineering College' because of it's close proximity to the Jacob's School of Engineering and it's small amount of GE's). However, let me begin by saying that you can obtain any degree in any college that you are placed into. Just because you weren't placed into Warren DOES NOT mean that you can't obtain an engineering degree.
ERC has the most GE's of any of the 6 colleges on campus. (It rivals only Revelle in this area). beyond this I honestly don't know very much about it other than it is known as the 'International Studies and Foreign Affairs College'.
As for switching into another college, I'm afraid that this is something you will have to take up with the school/your academic advisor once you get her seeing as it is not something that I'm too familiar with. I do know that it is something that is not usually allowed, but I have a feeling that they will allow you to switch if you have valid reasoning and can prove that you would do better academically in a different college. However, this is only my best guess as to what they would say.
I wish you the best of luck! Let me know if you have any further questions and feel free to E-mail me at anytime :)
